After the death of his father in 1883 he took over the family's ring factory. In the era of upheaval before the turn of the century Thomas Fahrner has filed numerous patents and utility models.

Finally, the breakthrough came with the presentation of the designed by Max J. Gradl jewelry at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900 , where he was awarded a silver medal. He used freelance designers.
