History

mid 1800's to present

Established in Paris, France in the mid 1800's by Jaques Hobé as a master goldsmith and fine jeweler. Because of industrialization the he began to make high end costume jewelry. In 1927, his grandson William Hobé set up Hobé Cie in the United States.

It was 1939 and the release of Gone With the Wind that featured Hobé's antique style jewelry that made the name. Hobé was known to use semi-precious stones which set him apart from other costomer jewelry manufacturers of the time.

Hobé's golden era was the 1930s thru the 1950s when Hobé began the use of paste and glitzy designs of the mid century costume jewelry craze.
